AALA FQL DRAFTING WORKSHOP WITH SUE TOMAT OF GUMLEAFGREEN - REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
Drafting Workshop by Sue Tomat of GumLeafGreen
The Foreign Qualified Lawyers (FQL) Subcommitee of the NSW Branch of the Asian Australian Lawyers’ Association (AALA) is pleased to now invite you to register for the Drafting Workshop to be held on Thursday, 25 February 2021 (6 to 7 pm NSW/VIC/ACT/TAS; 5 to 6 pm QLD; 5:30 to 6:30 pm SA; 3 to 4 pm WA) by legal drafting guru Sue Tomat, of GumLeafGreen.
Trainer profile
Having previously practised for 12 years as a commercial lawyer at Clayton Utz, Sue has since amassed 20 years of extensive experience in communication consulting and training. She specialises in helping a broad range of clients in Australia, New Zealand and across Asia to become more effective and efficient communicators, which has significantly contributed to their success. Her training is based on current best practice approaches which are aimed at always meeting readers' needs and priorities, and involves achieving context-specific objectives such as client centricity, persuasiveness, risk mitigation and 'seamlessness'. She has helped graduates to senior leaders in:
- law firms (Ashurst, Baker & McKenzie, Clayton Utz, DLA Piper, Herbert Smith Freehills, Minter Ellison and Norton Rose Fulbright);
- Australia's major banks (ANZ, NAB and Westpac);
- major investment banks (Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan and Macquarie Group);
- public and government legal teams and associations (Department of Premier & Cabinet VIC, NSW Law Society, Law Institute of Victoria, QLD Law Society, Victorian Bar Association, Victorian Government Solicitor's Office).
What do we need you to do?
We are excited to be able to offer this opportunity to access such training which will be interactive and conducted via a Zoom platform (requiring participants to have their video on). While this session will not focus specifically on the art and science of contract drafting (for which a further workshop is being considered), some of the principles covered do translate into drafting contract clauses. It is invaluable for all lawyers - particularly for those originally from other countries and juniors, but also for those at mid or higher levels if you have not had the chance to undergo such training previously or need a refresher.
To secure your place, you will need to register with payment of the fee of $38.50* as soon as possible. It will be on a "first in, best dressed" basis, and once paid for, it will be transferable, but not refundable.
