  The SA Branch of AALA is excited to be hosting an evening at Parliament House on Tuesday, 26 November 2024 with the Hon Kyam Maher MLC, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Attorney-General and Minister for Industrial Relations & Public Sector and the Hon Zoe Bettison, Minister for Multicultural Affairs and Minister for Tourism.

  The National President of AALA, Matt Floro will also be attending as a special guest.

  This event will be a great opportunity to meet other members of the profession of Asian background or who otherwise support diversity over food and drinks in a relaxed setting.

  This is a free invitation only event. We request that invited guests please RSVP by Tuesday, 12 November 2024.

  After the event, we will be heading to the Strathmore Hotel for casual drinks if you would also like to attend.

  To vote at the QLD Branch Meeting, you must have a current Branch membership (and not be an Associate Branch Member) by 11.59pm (AEST) 12 November 2024 and your membership rights must not be suspended for any reason.

  Notes

  1. Proxies

  A Member is entitled to appoint another Member to attend, speak and vote at the QLD Branch Meeting, as the Member’s proxy, by completing a Proxy Form (Annexure C).

  Proxy Forms that are submitted to the Association electronically or by post must be received by the Association by 5:00pm (AEST) on Tuesday, 26 November 2024 by email to Mitree Vongphakdi, Branch Returning Officer: mitreevongphakdi@gmail.com.

  Proxy Forms that have been completed in hard copy must be received by the Branch Meeting Chair before 5:00pm (AEST) on Wednesday, 27 November 2024.

  Any Proxy Form that is not received in accordance with the above timeframes will not be valid for the QLD Branch Meeting.

  
  

  2. Entitlement to Vote

  For the purposes of the QLD Branch Meeting, a person is entitled to vote if:

  • the person is a Branch Member of the Association (other than an Associate Branch Member);
  • more than 10 business days have passed since he or she became a Branch Member; and
  • the Branch Member’s membership rights are not suspended for any reason.

  If you have not yet paid your membership fees for the 2024-2025 financial year, you must do so by 11.59pm (AEST) on 12 November 2024.  If you do not pay your membership fees for the 2024-2025 financial year by this time, you will NOT be eligible to vote at the Branch Meeting.

  Annual General Meeting

  Place:	Online via Zoom with details to be circulated to Members  following registration
  Date:	Wednesday 27 November 2024
  Time:	7.00pm AEDST (Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney) (for a 7.30pm start) 6.30pm ACDST (Adelaide) (for a 7.00pm start) 6.00pm AEST (Brisbane) (for a 6.30pm start) 5.30pm ACST (Darwin) (for a 6pm start) 4.00pm AWST (Perth) (for a 4.30pm start) Important: from 7.00pm – 7.30pm AEDST, registration and credentialling of members will take place.  You must log on online during this time to be properly registered and credentialled before the National AGM commences at 7.30pm AEDST.

  
  

  Registration to attend the AGM closes 7:00pm on Tuesday 26 November 2024.

  Complete this Nomination form and submit by 7:00pm AEDST 25 November 2024 by email to returningofficer@aala.org.au

  Ways to vote
  

  1. Direct voting, as an eligible member.

  2. Proxy voting, you must be an eligible member and submit your vote via an eligible member.

  Eligible members have a current AALA Membership (and must not be an Associate Member) by 11:59pm AWST Tuesday 12 November 2024, and your membership rights must not be suspended for any reason.
