The AALA QLD Branch is delighted to invite you to an evening in conversation with the Hon. Colin Forrest SC, former judge of the Family Court of Australia, on a wide range of topics such as:

• The dos and don’ts of persuasive advocacy
• Effective alternative dispute resolution (ADR) techniques
• Making the most of mediations (and mediators!)
• Advice on career progression based on his 33 years in the law

Prior to his appointment to the bench, Colin was an associate to Justice Michael Kirby before working as a solicitor and later a barrister specialising in family and succession law. In 2021, Colin resigned his Judicial Commission and has since returned to the Bar providing services as a barrister, arbitrator and mediator with a principal focus on alternative dispute resolution.  Colin also practises as senior counsel in a variety of legal areas and mentors junior lawyers, particularly in family law.

Colin has a wealth of knowledge gained from over 33 years within the industry. It is a rare opportunity to hear from, and engage with, a distinguished individual within the legal profession, especially one with such broad and varied experiences.
