This year's AALA William Ah Ket Scholarship Award Ceremony will be held in Canberra next Tuesday evening, 10 October 2023 at the ACT Law Courts. Named after Mr William Ah Ket, the son of Chinese migrants who is believed to be the first person of Chinese background to practise as a barrister in Australia, the William Ah Ket Scholarship is awarded to the applicant who produces the most outstanding research paper on a topic relating to equality, diversity and the legal profession or the law.

We are pleased to have the Hon. Justice Chrissa Loukas-Karlsson, Resident Judge of the Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory as our keynote speaker and to announce the winner and finalists of this year's essay competition.

Proudly sponsored by Maddocks and supported by the University of Melbourne and the Victorian Bar, we look forward to welcoming you to this exciting event.

Registration opens at 5.45pm for a 6pm start.

Food and drinks will be provided.
