IDAHOBIT Day is the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism & Transphobia.

Each year, IDAHOBIT Day amplifies the voices of the LGBTIQ+ community and helps draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by people around the world who identify as LGBTIQ+ in an effort to effect change.

In recognition of IDAHOBIT Day this year, Corrs Chambers Westgarth will be hosting events in collaboration with the Asian Australian Lawyers Association and Pride in Law. The events will include a screening of a video produced for the occasion, which tackles the topic of intersection and highlights the diverse backgrounds of members of the legal profession and their experiences identifying with a diverse range of groups.

Please join us online via Zoom on Tuesday 17 May at 1-2pm AEST for a virtual celebration of IDAHOBIT Day and the launch of the AALA & Pride@Corrs IDAHOBIT Day Video.

Speakers on the video include:

  • David Anthony (Chair of Pride@Corrs);
  • Milo Bronleigh (TransFolk of WA);
  • Matt Floro (AALA);
  • Verity Long-Droppert (Pride in Law WA);
  • Hon Justice Rachel Pepper (Land and Environment Court of NSW); and
  • Cynthia Wong.

Matt Floro (AALA National Vice-President) and Louis Laing (Enquiries Officer, Pride in Law Queensland) will also speak at the virtual celebration.

AALA thanks Corrs Chambers Westgarth, the AALA WA Branch, and Corrs Special Counsel and AALA WA President Belinda Wong for organising this exciting event.
