The AALA NSW Branch warmly invites its members, supporters, and guests to join us in celebrating Harmony Day 2024 on 12 March 2023, for a special lunch event sponsored by our partner firm, Clayton Utz Sydney. 

The AALA NSW Branch invites you to a buffet lunch and keynote speech by the Australian Human Rights Commission President Rosalind Croucher on the topic of Harmony and Diverse Communities in 2024.

Emeritus Professor Rosalind Croucher AM FRSA FACLM (Hon) FAAL FRSN TEP

Emeritus Professor Croucher was appointed President of the Australian Human Rights Commission on 30 July 2017, after 10 years at the Australian Law Reform Commission. Her term concludes on 29 July 2024. Prior to this she was Dean of Law at Macquarie University (Nov 1999–Feb 2007) and Interim Dean at Sydney Law School (1997–1998). She has lectured and published extensively, principally in the fields of property, equity and legal history, and increasingly in public policy and in 2007, she became a Foundation Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law. Professor Croucher has been acknowledged for her contributions to public policy and outstanding contributions to the legal profession. In 2011 she was recognised as one of the 40 ‘inspirational alumni’ of UNSW, where she gained her PhD in legal history 1994. In 2014, Professor Croucher was acknowledged for her contributions to public policy as one of Australia’s ‘100 Women of Influence’ in the Australian Financial Review and Westpac awards; and for her ‘outstanding contribution to the legal profession’ role in supporting and advancing women in the legal profession she was awarded the Australian Women Lawyer’s award. In 2015, she was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for ‘significant service to the law as an academic, to legal reform and education, to professional development, and to the arts’. In October 2016 Macquarie University conferred on her the title of Emeritus Professor and in 2018 and 2020 she was awarded honorary LLDs by UNSW and Macquarie University respectively
