AALA is proud to present the fourth iteration of the National Cultural Diversity Summit (Summit), which will be held on Friday, 8 November 2024

The theme for this year's Summit is 'Multifaceted multiculturalism - We are one, but we are many'.

The Summit will feature a keynote address delivered by the Attorney-General of Australia, the Honourable Mark Dreyfus KC MP, as well as 4 panel sessions (with a CPD point available for each session, including for in-person attendees in WA) and closing remarks from the Honourable Justice Kyrou AO of the Federal Court of Australia, President of the Administrative Review Tribunal.

About the Summit

The Summit brings together leading practitioners and academics from around Australia and the world, providing a forum for thought leadership, critical examination and discussion of issues relating to cultural diversity and the law.

It is open to the entire community and gives everyone, including practitioners, policymakers and students, a chance to both listen to and take part in the conversation. The purpose of the Summit is to promote and advocate for intersectional diversity and equal access to justice, as well as providing an opportunity for attendees to expand their networks.

We are particularly excited to announce that this year's Summit will be held in hybrid format. It will feature an in-person component for the first time, with in-person hubs hosted by Ashurst at its offices in the ACT, NSW, VIC and WA. Catering will be provided (lunch, afternoon tea and drinks in the ACT, NSW and VIC, and morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea in WA). There will also be the option to join online via a Zoom webinar link.

For WA practitioners, the Summit has been accredited as a CPD activity by a non-QA provider, although points are only being offered for in-person attendees - there will be an attendance sheet at the in-person hub. Unfortunately, CPD points will not be available for those WA practitioners attending online due to logistical constraints associated with monitoring online attendance.
